The town of Makarska is located on the coast of central Dalmatia, between the mountain Biokovo and the beautiful blue sea. It is known for its clear sea, nightlife and is the best trip for lovers of active vacation.
As the second highest mountain in Croatia, Biokovo will surely delight you with its magical view. The highest peak “St. Jure” stands out, which is located as much as 1762m above sea level, and due to its easy accessibility, it is possible to visit it by car.
A unique attraction that will undoubtedly leave all visitors breathless. Skywalk with the most protruding point of 12m has a view of Makarska, Tucepi, Podgora and the central Dalmatian islands.
As the main landmark of Makarska, located in the center of the town square, the church of St. Marko is visible from every part of the city. With construction beginning in 1766, it was never actually fully completed and depicts styles from the Baroque to the present day.
In addition to the church of St. Marko, you will see a monument to Andrija Kačić Miošić on the square, and in front of the statue there is a fountain built in 1775, as the town received drinking water, and a ban on washing goods and feeding cattle is engraved on it.
